The Duke and Duchess of Sussex donned wellies and braved the rain to unveil a new site for the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, a forest conservation initiative that spans Commonwealth nations across the globe. This parks their second such engagement this tour, having also unveiled a new site in Tonga last week.

The first appearance of the day took the couple to the native bush reserve at Redvale on New Zealand’s North Shore. Harry unveiled a (very festive) plaque:

They then participated in a boot throwing competition. (Is this a thing? I have no additional information to give you, save that in the below photos you can indeed see Meghan throwing a red rain boot.) I am pleased to report Meghan apparently won.

Harry delivered brief remarks, during which Meghan was – quite literally – sitting pretty while her umbrella was held for her. As someone who constantly finds themselves without an umbrella in weather in which one is very much required, count me jealous.

A tree was also planted, though I think Harry spent most of the time playing with the children on hand.

Meghan is wearing J.Crew jeans, a blue blazer by Karen Walker, a t-shirt by Lavender Hill Clothing Co. and boots by The Muck Boot Company. I like this just fine, though I can’t write “Karen Walker” without thinking Will & Grace – anyone else?

And your daily random photo of the day, but one which is hilar only because someone felt compelled to take this:

Next up is a stop to Pillars with the Prime Minister, a walkabout at Viaduct Harbour and later on in the evening, a reception at the Aukland War Memorial Museum. I’ll follow up later today!
