The Duchess of Cambridge made a “surprise” appearance at the Natural History Museum’s Angela Marmont Centre today to learn more about its efforts to protect UK wildlife. In this engagement’s case, it was clearly tipped to royal reporters ahead of time under embargo…which was then broken. Thank you, Twitter.

While this is no doubt Kate’s last appearance before she touches down in Pakistan with the Duke on Monday, she’s continued to carry out several meetings at Kensington Palace behind the scenes. Clearly something is brewing over there for The Royal Foundation…or, now that it’s being led by only William and Kate, Kate is taking a more hands-on approach to the administration of the foundation.

If the latter, it wouldn’t surprise me if William and Harry had historically handled the lion’share of that work and now is an opportune moment for Kate to step more fully into that role. Either way, yesterday she and William met with Bill Gates in his capacity as head of the Gates Foundation.

Back to today, the Angela Marmont Centre is focused on wildlife research, from supporting community projects to hosting new scientific work to providing education for the public.

On the fashion front, Kate is continuing her love of culottes this autumn, today debuting a green khaki pair from Jigsaw. Her purple sweater is by Warehouse, while her heels are Tod’s and her handbag is Chanel. I know culottes are controversial – and they are definitely tricky – but I think Kate looks great here, so I’m calling it a win. It’s a solid autumnal look in my book 🙂

With that, we’ll pick back up with current royal news (barring unforeseen announcements) on Monday. I’m going to do my best to get another Richard III post up over the weekend, but I’m a tad behind, so TBD on that front.

I’m not a fan of culottes for most women, but with her slim figure, Kate definitely pulls them off, no pun intended. I’m in love with the bag, and the cool color combinations! She looks autumnal!
So glad to see her out and about, working hard independently, and looking so together and happy.

    1. Agreed! This is a tricky look to pull off, but Kate has the height and the figure to make it work. And I’m adoring the autumn colors 🙂
