Meghan Recycles Her Engagement Interview Dress at the WellChild Awards

In early September last year, at that point married for less than four months, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the WellChild awards, an organization of which Harry has been patron for over a decade. He noted in his remarks that it was his honor to be joined by his wife for the first time. The appearance also sparked the first serious whispering that Meghan might be pregnant, a rumor finally confirmed that October.

Well, we’ve come full circle, because the Sussexes attended the same event last night and Harry noted in his remarks that the couple had indeed found out that they were expecting Baby Archie shortly before their 2018 attendance. The memory of it briefly moved Harry to tears while he delivered his speech, unsurprising given that the organization is focused on supporting caretakers of seriously ill children.

He stated:

“I remember squeezing Meghan’s hand so tight during the awards and both of us thinking what it would be like to be parents one day and more so would it would be like to protect and help our child should they be born with immediate challenges or become unwell over time.

“And now talking to all of you as parent pulls at my heart strings, in a way I never could have understood, until I had a child of my own. No parent wants to hear that there child will suffer, that they will face extraordinary challenges – that will effect them throughout their lives.

‘”fter meeting all the WellChild kids and parents over the years you have managed to give us a sense of optimism, of hope and of strength that no professional, no best selling book or advice could ever give us – so thank you for being you.”

In addition to the event itself, the couple attended a pre-ceremony reception that allowed them to meet some of the young people honored that evening.

Meghan recycled the emerald PAROSH dress that she debuted during her engagement interview in November 2017. She paired it with a camel Sentaler coat and a Montunas handbag.

I definitely didn’t recognize this dress at first, but thought she looked great. Frankly, it makes me wish that we will one day see the Duchess of Cambridge recycle that blue Issa dress, but I think that’s unlikely given how that brand has evolved over the years. Alas.

With that, we’re going to head back over to Pakistan and cover the Cambridges’ first engagement of Day Three.
