Father: Edmund Tudor, Earl of Richmond

Mother: Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Richmond

Wedding: January 18, 1486

Marriage: Henry VII pledged to marry Elizabeth of York, daughter of Edward IV, in December of 1483 as part of a scheme to depose Richard III. Their eventual union in 1486 helped solidify Henry’s claim to the throne and the House of Tudor saw the consolidation of Lancastrian and Yorkist claims to the throne (though, there remained Yorkists unhappy throughout Henry’s reign). What Henry and Elizabeth thought of each other is unknown, though Henry was faithful throughout their marriage and they appear to have been mutually devoted to raising their children.
