A few odds and ends that happened this week:

“But Holocaust Memorial Day is not just a memorial to those six million innocent Jewish men, women and children – it is also universal because the Jews in this story represent all of us.

“That is why the Holocaust is not just a Jewish tragedy, nor merely a dark page from the Second World War, but a warning and a lesson to all of us of all faiths in all times.

“The memory of this suffering and the unspeakable, yet almost incredible, details of the Nazis’ diabolical enterprise can help future generations, wherever they may be, understand not just what happened across Europe, but how this came to happen.”

For context, William was sharply criticized for failing to attend the event last year, which was held at Kensington Palace. Indeed, the last time William did attend a BAFTA event publicly was in 2014, alone. He presented Helen Mirren with an award, joking that he should “probably call her granny,” referencing her role as Elizabeth II in 2006’s “The Queen.” This year’s ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 12 and William and Kate are both expected to attend.
