Meghan Attends Wimbledon (+ More on the Christening)

The Duchess of Sussex celebrated Independence Day yesterday by attending Wimbledon to watch close friend Serena Williams take the court. Flanked by two friends from her university days, it marked the third time we’ve seen Meghan since she gave birth to Archie two months ago. As was noted at the time, she will continue to pop up now and again for specific engagements, and given her friendship with Williams, and the precedent set forth by the Duchess of Cambridge during her own maternity leaves, yesterday’s attendance makes sense.

Meghan Makes a Surprise Appearance By Joining Harry For MLB Engagement

The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance on Saturday alongside her husband, the Duke of Sussex, ahead of Europe’s first ever Major League Baseball game. The MLB partnered with the Invictus Games for a two-game series in London, the first of which featured the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

Palace Confirms Africa Tour For Harry & Meghan

As has been widely rumored and quasi-confirmed earlier this week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake official visits to Africa later this year. Buckingham Palace announced this afternoon that Harry and Meghan will together visit South Africa, and that Harry will travel solo to Angola and Malawi at the request of the Foreign Office. While in the region, Harry will make a “working trip” to Botswana, labeled as such because it’s not at the direction of the FO.

Palace Confirms Royal Foundation Split

As first reported by Emily Andrews a few weeks ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are indeed splitting away from the Royal Foundation. Per the official announcement, later this year, the Royal Foundation will be led by only the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, while the Sussexes will begin their own charitable foundation. The language also makes clear that the two couples will still partner on specific projects, including the successful mental health campaign, Heads Together.

As we speak the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are carrying out a series of engagements in Cumbria, which I will wrap up in a separate post later today. In the meantime, though, I want to weigh in on a few narratives I’ve seen unfolding online following the U.S. state visit and Saturday’s Trooping the Colour. Trooping the Colour 2019

It’s that time of year again! The British Royal Family gathered for Trooping the Colour, one of the biggest banner events in the royal calendar. For the uninitiated, TTC is a military display put on by regiments of British and Commonwealth armies. Each year, the Royal Family processes in a public parade and then watches the fly past from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

The Royal Family Commemorates the 75th Anniversary of D-Day

As many of you may know, today is the 75th anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces launched the largest combined land, air, and naval operation in history to liberate German-occupied France. The epicenter of today’s commemorations went on in Normandy itself, but additional services and ceremonies were held throughout the United States, Canada, and of course, the United Kingdom.

The U.S. State Visit [Updated]

Monday kicked off a three-day state visit from the United States, and while meetings and public engagements will be ongoing today and tomorrow, most of the big ticket (read: royal) items happened on Day One.

There’s been some ongoing conversation online as to which members of the Royal Family supported the Queen during this particular visit, and so I think it’s worth noting that generally there is one family member – and their spouse if they’re married – that acts as the host, while other family members will attend certain engagements, and then a good group of them joins the state banquet held at Buckingham Palace.
