Today we’re following up on where we left off in 1459 as we tick through the early years in the Wars of the Roses.

Let’s Check In on William’s Trip to Namibia & Tanzania
The Duke of Cambridge is in the midst of a “private, working visit” to Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya to meet with government officials and learn more about conservation efforts ahead of an upcoming conference in the UK.

Meghan Flies Solo
Just four months after her wedding, the Duchess of Sussex yesterday carried out her first solo engagement. (Yes, the Hubb Community Kitchen feast last week was her event, but it was still a joint appearance with the Duke of Sussex.) Last night, however, she was all on her own, marking yet another milestone in her new royal career.
Harry & Meghan Attend Coach Core Awards
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex carried out an engagement for Coach Core at Loughborough University today, during which they played a game of netball and oversaw an apprentices’ awards ceremony. Like the Cambridges many times before them, the two engaged in some friendly competition by leading opposing shootout teams – unfortunately for Meghan, Harry’s team won the day 3-2.
Royal Roundup: The Cambridges Turn Up For a Wedding
The Duke of Cambridge is off on his working visit to Kenya, Namibia and Tanzania, which kicks off tomorrow and will last until September 30. The trip is on behalf of Tusk, and while it’s unclear how much information will be forthcoming given that this isn’t an official tour, it’s likely that we’ll get a least some photos and updates over the next week.

Meghan Hosts a Hubb Community Kitchen Feast at Kensington Palace
When it was first reported that the Duchess of Sussex would host a meal consisting of recipes from the new Hubb Community Kitchen cookbook, I had images of everyone sitting down in some formal Kensington Palace dining room. I’m not sure how I thought those logistics would work, but I definitely didn’t realize it would be held outside under a tent!
But it was lovely and, even more, it represents Meghan’s first solo engagement, just four months after her wedding. Pretty impressive. While the Duke of Sussex was on hand, he was only there to support (and eat). And in a lovely surprise, Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, attended. She was spotted flying into London a few days ago, but no one was expecting her to make an appearance in such an official capacity.

Meghan Participates With New Cookbook Supporting Grenfell Tower Victims
Surprise(!)…well, a day late. Yesterday, Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess of Sussex wrote the forward for a new cookbook developed by Hubb Community Kitchen. The organization is made up of women affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, while the end result is a cookbook supported by the Royal Foundation, published by Penguin Random House and already sold out during pre-sale by some retailers. Not a bad start, really.

Royal Roundup: KP Staff, William’s Africa Trek & Eugenie’s Wedding
Well, enough minor stories have built up that I’ve decided it’s time for a brief royal roundup. The first item on the agenda is that the Duchess of Cambridge has in fact carried out her first engagement this autumn – albeit, behind the scenes. Yesterday, she and the Duke met with Miguel Head as he formally stepped down from his position as William’s private secretary.
