The Cambridges Turn Up at Balmoral

The Cambridge family has spent the last few days at Balmoral Castle with the Queen, as evidenced by new photos of the Duke and Duchess attending church today with other members of the Royal Family.

William and Kate were photographed in the same car as the Queen, with Kate in the back and William riding shotgun with a driver. Other members included the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise (their daughter), the Princess Royal and Timothy Laurence, Peter and Autumn Phillips and the Prince of Wales. It’s unclear whether the Duchess of Cornwall was in attendance.

Back at the castle, the Viscount Severn, Princes George and Louis, Princess Charlotte and Savannah and Isla Phillips were waiting in the nursery. George and Savannah reportedly went on their first grouse hunt, overseen by Kate and Zara Tindall. It’s unclear if Zara is still at Balmoral with her own two daughters, but neither she nor her husband, Mike, were spotted at church this morning.

Kate is wearing a new grey coat by Catherine Walker, and between the hat, the hearings and the full face of makeup, she’s look decidedly smarter than she did this time last year when we saw her remarkably less done up than we usually do at royal gatherings. Little did we know then, but she was in the first weeks of her third pregnancy – it’s hard to believe that was a year ago, but then again, so very much has happened since!

Anywho, as we covered earlier this week, Kensington Palace has begun rolling out the first engagement announcements for the autumn. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are due to make three appearances in the coming days, while KP followed that up by announcing two solo engagements for William. Still no word on Kate, but as I noted before, it’s quite likely she won’t make her return until George and Charlotte are back at school. I have a feeling it’s going to be a busy next few months!
