The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are back at it. For their first engagement post-summer holiday, they turned up for a performance of Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London. The evening was on behalf of Harry’s charity, Sentebale.
Among the highlights was an introduction to the musical’s creator and one-time star Lin-Manuel Miranda.
For those who haven’t seen the show, there’s a comical depiction of George III and, naturally, the British don’t come off in the best light. I had been wondering how this would play with Harry in the audience, but Meghan noted to Miranda: “Have you seen it yet in London? Because I found it so amazing to watch how that plays versus here and the response is so different but everyone loves it.”
Video: Lin-Manuel Miranda got a HUGE & rapturous reception as he came onto the stage. He said he’d written the King George song while on honeymoon & “smash cut to 2018 & I’m sitting next to his sixth great-grandson…!” #princeharry found it v funny @HamiltonWestEnd pic.twitter.com/v0kffJb1NS

It’s rare that I’m jealous of an engagement, but I am a bit with this one.
Yet another highlight has to be Meghan’s ensemble this evening, which was a tuxedo-style dress by Judith & Charles with black heels by Paul Andrew. I loved it. Yes, the hemline was a bit shorter than we sometimes get with our Windsor women, but it’s still August for God’s sake and it fit the venue.
"You say…"
Thank you to the cast and crew of @HamiltonWestEnd for a fantastic performance, raising awareness and funds for @Sentebale's work with children and young people affected by HIV #HamiltonLDN pic.twitter.com/M5hmjTfhEz

UPDATE: New photos have trickled out from the end of the performance and inside the theatre. A smattering below:
Next week, we’ll see Harry and Meghan twice, while the Duke of Cambridge is slated to carry out two solo engagements next Thursday and Friday. Still no word on the Duchess of Cambridge, but as we’ve discussed, she’s probably waiting until after Prince George and Princess Charlotte are back in school. Fingers crossed we get an announcement soon.
