Yesterday afternoon, the Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister, Pippa Matthews, gave birth to a baby boy. He was born at 1:58 pm GMT, weighing 8 lbs and 9 oz. No word yet on a name, but based on how quickly the birth was confirmed with media, I’m going to guess we’ll get the news sooner rather than later.
Baby Boy Matthews marks the Cambridge children’s first first cousin, and a first nephew for William and Kate. Soon to be joined by the Sussexes’ child next spring, but it’s nice to think that there’s going to be a smattering of children all the same age to grow up with in London. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they all end up in the same school eventually.
Pippa and her husband, James Matthews, have been married just under a year-and-a-half. Their wedding in Berkshire in May 2017 was a lovely affair, and featured an appearance from Harry’s then-girlfriend, Meghan Markle, as well as the first time Prince George and Princess Charlotte appeared publicly in the roles of page boy and bridesmaid.
Later today we’ll return to Harry and Meghan’s ongoing visit to Australia, with Day Two in Dubbo!
