The Household Split…And All That Entails

So, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have officially taken up residence at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate, and with that has come the already-announced division of their household from that of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Kensington Palace. As discussed here, their operation falls under the umbrella of Buckingham Palace, and as discussed here, there’s nothing inherently shocking about this split.

But of course, it has provided plenty of fodder for gossip and tabloids thanks to the now long-rumored animosity between William and Harry, and the launch of the Sussexes’ independent Instagram account.

Ok, I know I’ve been out of the loop with posting, so over the next couple of days [edit: hours, apparently] I’m going to back fill much of the spring. In the meantime, I wanted to share the three new photos of Princess Charlotte that Kensington Palace released yesterday in honor of her fourth birthday today.

As always, the images were captured by Charlotte’s mother, the Duchess of Cambridge. These particular snaps were taken last month when the family was at Anmer Hall, their house in Norfolk.

Kate Carries Out Engagement for the Anna Freud Centre

The Duchess of Cambridge carried out her first solo engagement on Wednesday, May 1 after nearly a month away. The break was thanks to a combination of Easter and school breaks, as well as the fact that the Duke of Cambridge did a three week stint with the UK’s Security and Intelligence Agencies in April. My guess is that with William gone for a significant chunk of time, she opted to have one parent home for the children.

A “spring break,” if you will, isn’t abnormal for Kate either. Last year was a bit of an aberration thanks to her maternity leave with Prince Louis, but in 2017 there was a also a few-week gap in her engagements around May and early June that I believe (if memory serves) coincided with the children’s school schedule.
