Royal Roundup: Everything Else That Happened Last Week [UPDATED]

While we were busy covering the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Sweden and Norway last week, the rest of the British Royal Family was still conducting business as usual. We had television interviews, other foreign tours and wedding dates set while the rest of us were busy tracking Kate’s battle against floral Erdem dresses, so let’s catch up.

First and foremost, as we’ve discussed, this was a very busy January for Kate. Even taking away the tour, she carried out more engagements this month than she ever has for the month of January in the past. But more importantly, the entirety of the BRF’s workload is on the upswing.

Royal Roundup: Work Schedules & Wedding Gowns

The slow few weeks that used to make up the royal calendar as the family returned to work after the Christmas holiday are more and more a thing of the past – at least for the younger generation. The Duchess of Cambridge has already carried out four solo engagements in London and one away day in Coventry with the Duke of Cambridge, while Kensington Palace announced at the end of last week that she’s due to launch a new mental health project for children with Place2Be, the Anna Freud Centre and Young Minds UK on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she’ll follow that up with an engagement focused on her new area of interest: maternal mental health. And all of this comes before she and William carry out their tour of Stockholm and Oslo at the end of the month.

A Year in Review: The BRF in 2017

This was certainly a pivotal year for the House of Windsor, from retirements to anniversaries to new babies to engagements. It’s also yet another year in a pretty interesting time period because we’re certainly towards the end of Queen Elizabeth’s reign and there is more and more focus on the transition of the future and shifting responsibilities. In light of this, here on this site I pretty much focus only on the members of the Royal Family who will continue to play important roles. The RF Attends Grenfell Tower Memorial Service [UPDATE]

Members of the Royal Family turned up for a memorial service at St. Paul’s Cathedral earlier today. Held in honor of those who lost their lives during the Grenfell Tower fires earlier this year, the Cathedral was packed with about 1,500 people, including the families and friends for those affected, and other residents who lost their homes.

The RF Brings the Bling at the BP Diplomatic Reception

I must admit, this event was not on my radar with everything else going on with our favorite family, so these pictures caught me by surprise when they popped up late today. Nevertheless, here we are! It’s tiara time. Tonight was the annual Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace, a marquee event for the Royal Family and the largest reception held at the Palace each year (1,500 people from roughly 130 countries). The event is private, though, and we are usually only privy to arrival photos of members of the RF entering BP gates.

Charles & Camilla in India + Harry Opening the Field of Remembrance

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall arrived in India yesterday for a quick trip at the tail end of a tour that also included stops in Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia. It was just last year that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge completed a high-profile visit to India, but the timing of Charles and Camilla’s presence aligned with the Queen’s announcement that 2017 would be celebrated as a “year of culture” for the UK and India.

Charles & Camilla Do Malaysia

I have to say, the photos from the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall in Malaysia might be some of the best tour photos I’ve ever seen. Everything is just perfect – the colors, scenery, fashion and even some monkeys. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge might need to step up their tour game – this is the threshold I now want cleared when they visit Norway and Sweden next year.

Charles & Camilla Wrap Up Singapore & Brunei

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Malaysia on Friday, but for the three days before that they were visiting Singapore and Brunei. Unfortunately I don’t have time to cover this tour day in and day out – not to mention it’s been a little busy with UK news – but I do want to periodically check in with them on their travels as they move through southeast Asia and India. So, today we’re going to cover the first leg’s highlights and later this week we’ll wrap up Malaysia.
