T-2 Days & We’re Back to Regularly Scheduled Programming [UPDATED]

Meghan

The Royal Family descended on Windsor today for tea with the Queen and rehearsals ahead of the big day on Saturday. Pictures of the family arriving via car came shortly after a statement directly from Meghan Markle was released by Kensington Palace addressing the chaos over the last few days and confirming that her father won’t be attending the wedding.

Charles & Camilla Visit Athens & Crete

Well, for those who read to the end of the last post, I obviously was not able to manage getting a historical post up yesterday. I now have it slated for Sunday, so cross your fingers with me(!) In the meantime, let’s catch up on the second leg of the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall’s tour of France and Greece.

Charles & Camilla Tour Nice & Lyon

I do love a good royal tour and thank God for the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, because we’re not going to get another joint trip out of the Cambridges this year thanks to the arrival of Prince Louis. Just one month after a visit to Australia, the couple are in the middle of five-day trek to France and Greece. In fact, they’re kicking off the second leg today, but before we cover that later this week I want to capture their last couple days in Nice and Lyon.

Harry & Meghan Headline Day Three of CHOGM [Updated]

Before we get into the day’s events, I want to call out that Kensington Palace has added another engagement to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s schedule next week, meaning that we are seeing them today, tomorrow, Saturday, Monday and now next Wednesday. That would be a lot even if the couple were married and Meghan was a full-time royal, but I honestly can’t recall a window that chock-full for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge save foreign tours. Between Meghan’s participation CHOGM, her full dance card and her presence at historically family-only events, this engagement really is the first of its kind for the BRF.

Anyway, let’s get back to today, which kicked off with Meghan’s first appearance at CHOGM when she accompanied Harry at the closing session of the Commonwealth Youth Forum at the QEII Centre.

“Whitehall sources” are confirming to media that the Prince of Wales is expected to be confirmed on Friday as the next Head of the Commonwealth in due course. As such, he appeared in good spirits today when he and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, carried out their first public engagements for the ongoing Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Palace Releases Itinerary for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (+ Wedding News)

BRF

Buckingham Palace shared next week’s schedule, which will see five days of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) events. Senior members of the Royal Family will help Queen Elizabeth to host a variety of events in different royal residences, including the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry, the Duke of York and the Earl and Countess of Wessex. In addition to formal events held towards the end of the week, there will be a series of forums and roundtables that members of the family will attend based on their interests.

Update: Kensington Palace released further information on William, Harry and Meghan Markle’s activity next week. You can see that here.

Charles & Camilla Open the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast

Well, I suppose this answers the question as to where the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were on Easter Sunday. Though their first engagements weren’t until today, the couple arrived in Australia a few days early and were staying privately with friends in New South Wales.

Moving right along, Charles and Camilla opened the Commonwealth Games today, though this Australian tour is not without controversy. There was confusion at the outset over whether Camilla would accompany her husband, which was later clarified by reports that she would join Charles for the start, but fly back to London early. Charles will wrap up the tour on April 10 solo due to Camilla having a difficult time traveling in significant heat.

Commonwealth Day 2018 Was a Marked Improvement [UPDATE-2]

Happy Commonwealth Day. Let’s take a moment before we dive in to mark the one-year anniversary of the Duke of Cambridge’s rather epic Verbier ski trip smack dab in the middle of this ceremony, while most other members of his family were filing into Westminster Abbey just as they’ve done today. Throw in some 20-something blondes and some questionable 4 am drunk dancing and you’ve got yourself a royal scandal just as William and Kate were preparing for their much-anticipated mini-tour of Paris.

Fast forward to the present and William and Kate are expecting their third child, all is well in the House of Cambridge and both are dutifully seated inside the Abbey for this important occasion, marking a one-month countdown until the Commonwealth Heads of Government meetings in London next month. Good for them.

Mention of Camilla as Future “Princess Consort” Removed from Couple’s Website

Clarence House overhauled the official website for the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, and in doing so removed all reference to Camilla becoming known as the “Princess Consort” once Charles ascends the throne. This particular style of address was first announced back in 2005 when the couple married, by way of a concession to their unpopularity in light of all things “Diana.” As such, Camilla is known as the Duchess of Cornwall instead of the Princess of Wales, a title still closely associated with Diana.
