Well, this solves the mystery of when Princess Charlotte was meant to start nursery school. Today, apparently! Kensington Palace just released two photos of the two-year-old princess on her way to her first day of school. The photos were taken on the front steps of KP by her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, who dabbles in photography.

This follows the tradition of releasing an image or two when each Cambridge child starts a new school – in January 2016, two photos shot of Prince George by Kate were released, while just this past September, a formal photo of George on the same steps was taken by royal photographer Chris Jackson.

Willocks Nursery School is located in Kensington, not far from home, and she is reportedly due to attend five days of week for the mornings only.

Today, Charlotte is wearing a red coat by Amaia Kids and a pink ballerina backpack by Cath Kidston. In other words, she’s hitting the [play]ground running.

Adorable. As for the rest of the week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will carry out an engagement in Brixton tomorrow, while the Duke of Cambridge and Kate will carry out solo engagements on Wednesday. We’ll cover both of those here and then return to regularly scheduled (historical) programming on Thursday.

In the meantime, happy Monday!
