It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…at Kensington Palace at least. Candy, toys, Santa and even fake snow were gathered for the families of deployed Royal Air Force service members from Coningsby and Marham . Today was essentially part one of a two-day showing that will take the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Cyprus tomorrow as the day’s festivities were specifically for the families of service members stationed there.
The couple mingled with 200 RAF spouses and children as they made Christmas cards and decorated cookies.
The cause is one that hits close to home for the Cambridges given William’s former life as a RAF pilot. Kate has spoken publicly on a number of occasions about the stress and worry that often accompanied his work and, at one point, even penned a forward for a book on RAF wives.
Fashion-wise, today was a smash hit for the Duchess. The red plaid skirt is Emilia Wickstead, while her black cardigan is by Brora. I loved both pieces and I’m usually not a fan of the tall boots, long skirt combo.
Before I move on to tonight’s Diplomatic Reception, I do want to flag in other holiday news that it’s been reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will join William and Kate at Anmer Hall over Christmas and both families be in attendance with the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham. There was some speculation that the Cambridges would be in Berkshire with the Middletons this year…so now there’s speculation that this move is to specifically put rumors of tension between the couples to bed.
More on this later, perhaps, but for now I’ll leave it here – off to the reception!
