The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were photographed walking to church in Norfolk yesterday, as has become their early January tradition. While it’s possible that the Cambridges slipped away for a short post-Christmas holiday, they have certainly returned to Norfolk in time for Kate’s birthday on the 9th for the last few years and make a point of joining the Queen for church on the first weekend of the month.
William’s first engagement of the year is slated for Wednesday evening, while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be in Birkenhead for two events on Monday, Jan. 14. Thus far it’s unclear when Kate will return to work, but Prince George and Princess Charlotte are due to start back at school this week. I would imagine we’ll either get an impromptu appearance later this week or an announcement for next week soon.
As for the church walk, Kate wore a light blue Catherine Walker coat that she first debuted last winter in Oslo when pregnant with Prince Louis. This time around she nixed the faux fur for a Jane Taylor headband, while a navy and white polka dot dress could be glimpsed beneath – possibly the same one recently worn for the Prince of Wales’s birthday photos.
News reports note that the Princess Royal and her husband, Timothy Laurence, were also in attendance yesterday, while last weekend, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and their daughter, Lady Louise, joined the Queen. Also on hand were several of the Cambridges friends indicating that there is a small house party going on ahead of Kate’s birthday this week.
As for life here, I still have two EOY recaps to get up, as well as the results from last week’s polls. I plan on covering Harry and Meghan’s day in Birkenhead next week, which will also see a return to history if all goes according to plan. Fingers crossed and such.
