The big royal news today in fact has nothing to do with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s tour – yesterday a clip promoting an upcoming documentary covering the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent Africa tour was released and…there’s been some furor. I’ll cover all that once the doc is released, but in the meantime you can read a little about it here.
Back in Pakistan, drama surrounding the Cambridges’ return to Islamabad from Lahore has taken central stage. Apparently the plane, housing both the couple, their staff, and the press pack, encountered significant, weather-related turbulence and the party was forced to unexpectedly spend the night in Lahore.
Everyone survived – literally and figuratively – but I did enjoy this tweet from Emily Andrews last night:
The logistical surprise thus gave us an additional sighting of the couple as they departed Lahore for Islamabad this morning.
The final engagement came in the form of a visit to the Islamabad Army Canine Centre where British soldiers are working with Pakistani soldiers to help train dogs to combat terrorism threats.
Per one news article on the visit:
“British troops are currently giving training and advice to Pakistan’s Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) programme, which in part breeds and trains bomb sniffer dogs. Pakistani officers say the dog programme has been a huge success, finding 19 tons of explosives and 700 homemade bombs in the past three years. Bomb incidents have fallen 30 per cent since 2015.”
All of which is to say we were gifted several images of William and Kate playing with dogs 😉
Kate wore a black coat by Beulah London over white trousers. I’m not always a fan of longer jackets and cardigans, but I loved the combination of white and black together in this particular look and this is a win in my book. I haven’t yet seen an ID on the shoes, but I’ll update when I do because I’m loving them too.
With that, the couple has flown back to London. TBD on when we’ll next see Kate out and about, but as we’ve seen over the last several months, it is altogether likely it’ll be a surprise.
