The Duchess of Sussex’s second engagement of the day took her to ActionAid South Africa where she joined a roundtable discussion full of NGO leaders to discuss the nature of violence against women in the country and what work is underway to combat it.

It’s a topic Meghan has clearly been following given her private visit to the site where a university student was recently killed. She actively participated in today’s discussion and referenced South Africa as being in a “crisis state” when it comes to this particular issue.

Some video by royal reporter Rebecca English:

Upon arriving she was greeted by an eight-year-old girl who gave her a hug and presented her with a picture she drew of hearts, a cloud, and a cross with the word, “love.” It’s always so cute to see the royals meeting with children, but particularly when the little girls meet Kate or Meghan – you can tell they’re so excited to meet a real-life princess 🙂

Meghan made a costume change from her visit to the University of Johannesburg earlier today, switching into a dress from a new (to us) brand, Room 502. She paired it with her black Manolo Blahnik heels.

I like this dress and would call it a win, but I’m not sure it’s a look that will stand out when we look back on this tour, which is totally fine. There are always a few distinct ensembles that really stand out when we get so many back-to-back appearances – the Veronica Beard and the Saafiya from the Oceania tour, for example, or those controversial Erdem gowns Kate wore when in Sweden and Norway last winter…

I’ll be back tomorrow to cover the Sussexes’ last day on tour. As of right now, there are two engagements scheduled, but TBD if they squeeze in another unannounced appearance as these two are very wont to do. We’ll also see the Cambridges at The Aga Khan Centre back in the UK as they prepare for their visit to Pakistan in less than two weeks now, so a busy day all around. Happ Tuesday!
