The commentary around this tour has noted time and again how grueling the pace is, particularly once the Duchess of Sussex’s pregnancy was announced, but it appears it has finally caught up with HRH after all. Kensington Palace confirmed earlier today that the Duke of Sussex would carry out an earlier engagement for the Invictus Games solo while Meghan rested, and though she joined him for the day’s later event, her schedule over the next few days will be amended.
Though Meghan will join Harry on Fraser Island tomorrow, it’s being reported that she won’t appear in public. Likewise, she will travel to Fiji and Tonga, but the number of engagements she undertakes may be reduced.
I didn’t note this in the post covering last night’s opening ceremonies because it seemed insignificant at the time, but the event was delayed by roughly 80 minutes due to weather. The late start meant a late end – taken together with a rigorous pace that has included jet lag, early call time and a pregnancy, and it’s no wonder Meghan is exhausted. KP stressed that the Duchess is feeling “fine,” so there’s no cause for alarm, but a slightly slower pace is understandable.
This afternoon, Harry and Meghan joined the Prime Minister for a lunch reception at the Pavilion Restaurant in honor of the Invictus Games. Meghan wore a new lightly pinstriped white L’Agence blazer over a black turtleneck and black jeans. Her heels have been identified as her Aquazzura heels.
Later in the day, Meghan joined Harry on Sydney Harbour for a sailing challenge. It also sounds like there was an unannounced reception at Admiralty House last night, however details and pictures are slim. A tweet below captures the one image I’ve seen from the event thus far.
Assuming Meghan doesn’t pop up tomorrow, then I’m going to take the day off here, but will definitely get something up if anything changes. If not, then we’ll reconvene for Fiji on Monday 🙂
