A day late and a dollar short…but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s five-day visit to Pakistan is officially underway. The couple touched down yesterday evening, their travel reportedly having been scheduled around their ability to drop off Prince George and Princess Charlotte at school on Monday morning.
The couple are due to carry out three days of engagements – today, tomorrow, and Thursday – with a public departure scheduled on Friday. We don’t know much about their itinerary due to security concerns, but Kensington Palace has touted this trip as one of their most complicated and sensitive. That may be so due to its location, but I have to say I’m a touch disappointed we’re only seeing three days’ worth of engagements, particularly given that this is the couple’s first serious overseas tour since Sweden and Norway in the winter of 2018.
Regardless, the visit is going swimmingly thus far. Most of the attention has been focused on the couple’s sartorial choices – yes, both of theirs, but we’ll get there 😉 Kate kicked things off with a Catherine Walker kameez in an aquamarine ombre.
I’m not a big fan of ombre, so this gets a few points knocked off for me, but I do love that she’s embracing the local style. She really does nail dressing for tours, particularly the statement moments like arrivals and departures, and this look sets a pitch-perfect tone for the rest of the week.
I’m going to continue to ticking through engagements to catch up, so more to come soon 🙂
