There’s obviously a LOT going on between the Cambridges and the Sussexes right now – or, at least, there’s a lot being speculated about tension between the two couples. I’m definitely going to get into that when we get to Easter and the actual household division, but for the purposes of this post on the Anzac Day ceremony I’m just going to offer a bit of context for those who haven’t been following this closely.

A Frosty Royal Easter
An allegedly frosty Easter, I should say. Per tradition, members of the British Royal Family convened at Windsor to attend an Easter service with the Queen. As such, the family tends to stay at Windsor Castle, walk to church as a group, line up for the Queen to arrive via car, attend the service, and then depart as a group to walk back to the Castle.
And also per tradition, the family is photographed while they are outside with people tending to enjoy watching them interact while they wait for the Queen.
Charles, William & Harry Make Rare Joint Appearance
As you may know by now, I love it when members of the British Royal Family pair up with family members other than their spouse for joint engagements. I particularly like it when members of the family are supporting the Queen and the Prince of Wales, both of whom carry the lion’s share of public engagements (alongside the Princess Royal, of course). And given the ongoing speculation as to just how close Charles is to his sons, particularly the Duke of Cambridge, it’s nice to see all three men out together.

Royal Roundup: Household Split, Meghan’s Maternity Leave & a Tindall Christening
Let’s start with the big news and work our way through: Buckingham Palace confirmed last week that the Cambridges and the Sussexes will formally separate their households. In fact, a new household will be created for Harry and Meghan this spring in coordination with the couple’s move to Windsor and the birth of their first child. Their new joint operations will be based out of Buckingham Palace.

Commonwealth Day 2019
Happy Commonwealth Day. Last year we used this occasion to note the marked improvement from 2017’s celebration, which was marred by #skigate (a thing only I call it). But it’s just as remarkable to look back at last year and see how far we’ve come once again. Yes, the Cambridges still showed up, but while 2018 saw Kate pregnant with Prince Louis and Meghan still a royal fiancée, this year we have Kate fully back in action and a mother of three, and Meghan a duchess and about a month out from the birth of her first child. What can I say? I love a good annual event – the passage of time is so much easier to track.
Harry & Meghan Carry Out Engagement at Canada House
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex kicked off this year’s Commonwealth Day with an engagement at Canada House in London where they met with a select group of Canadians living in the UK. In keeping with Harry’s position as the Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, there was an emphasis on young people representing the worlds of fashion, art, business and academia.

The Royal Family Turns Out For the 50th Anniversary of the Prince of Wales’s Investiture
Today the Queen hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace in honor of the 50th anniversary of Prince Charles’s investiture as Prince of Wales. Charles was named PoW by his mother at the age of nine in 1958, but not formally invested with the title until the age of 20 in 1969. By his side for the anniversary were his two sons and daughters-in-law, the Dukes and Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex, as well as his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, and his sister, the Princess Royal.
Harry & Meghan in Morocco: Day Three
The final day of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s mini-tour of Morocco took them to Rabat where they visited the Royal Equestrian Club, participated in cooking activities with children under the guidance of local celebrity Chef Moha, and toured the Andalusian Gardens.
Harry & Meghan in Morocco: Days One & Two
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrapped a mini-tour to Morocco on Monday after a series of engagements focused on women’s and youth issues. The trip began on Saturday evening when the couple landed in Casablanca after an hour+ delay thanks to flying commercial (the horror). They were greeted by the UK’s ambassador to Morocco, Thomas Reilly, and then participated in an elaborate welcome ceremony in which Harry inspected a guard of honor from the Auxiliary Forces.
